Imphal, January 08: Lamenting the lack of co-operation of the Senapati police towards the women folk of Langol areas who had gone after the trail of James Kuki alias Letsei Haokip alias King, named as the king pin in the kidnapping and murder of Lungnila Elizabeth, by one of the accused, N Rome, representatives of the Palem Thoudok Lup, Langol Housing Complex, said that when a group of women folk approached the Senapati police they received a very cold reception and instead police personnel had to be called from Imphal to conduct a search for the fugitive.

The Sangai Express could not contact Senapati SP as he is presently on leave while the DIG Range IV PM Goud was away at Ukhrul and hence could not be contacted for their comments.

Speaking to media persons at the office of the Lup today, the publicity secretary of the voluntary organisation said that as soon as they heard that James has been named as the king pin of the kidnapping and murder of the little girl, they gathered at the quarters of James yesterday morning.

However by then, James had fled, said the secretary adding that the local people managed to open the window and take out an album which contained a photo of the accused.

Thereafter a frantic search began, said the secretary adding that the photograph of James was shown to the drivers whose passenger vehicles were parked at the Langol Housing parking lot.

At the parking lot one auto driver recognized the face of James and informed that he (auto driver) had dropped James at North AOC in the morning.

Armed with the photo of James, women folk and members of the Lup rushed to North AOC and with the help of the photograph managed to know that James had bought a ticket at the Network Travels and was traveling on a bus with the registration number 1386.His seat number was 12.James had used the name Yangi while purchasing the ticket.

After informing the Imphal police that James had run away by taking a bus with the Network Travels, some members of the Lup went after his trail, they informed.

His photo was given to Sekmai police to check the other buses coming that way.

The Lup members also gave the photograph of James to the Kangpokpi police station and even to all the drivers and handymen there.

However James had changed bus midway before reaching Kangpokpi switching to a Kangleipak Travels bus registration number 0898.As the reality sank in, the Lup members along with the handyman of a bus went after the bus.

However the Kangpokpi police did not react at all, said the Lup members.

The Lup members traveled all the way to Senapati police station and approached the SP of the district but were curtly told to conduct the search themselves, they charged.

Not to be daunted by the uncooperative nature of the police, the Lup members went after the trail of James from Senapati again, they said.

The pursuers finally caught up with the Kangleipak bus, but on checking found out that James had again changed bus midway and boarded a Mao to Imphal bus.

At Maram, the Lup members contacted the Imphal police and requested for help as the Senapati police had refused to extend co-operation and it was only after this that a police commando team led by its OC was pressed into service, they contended.

The Lup members traversed upto Makhan in hot pursuit of James but there again they found that the accused had given them the slip.

After they reached Mao, they learnt that James had again boarded another Kangleipak Travels bus.

While they were racing back from Mao towards Makhan, they found the police searching all the passenger causes.

There inside one of the buses, they found a shoe which was reportedly worn by James.

On further checking the bus, police recovered a bag containing some clothes from the seat where James sat as well Rs 3000 in cash.

James was attired in a red coloured shirt when last seen.
