All India Trade Union Congress general secretary Gurudas Dasgupta today stated that the frequent visits of the NDA officials in the State is not to bring about peace or development but to topple the Congress led SPF Govt.Speaking at the "Workers Meeting" of the AITUC Manipur Branch today at GM Hall, Guradas accused the BJP led Govt at the Centre of working out ways to curtail the rights of the workers in the name of liberalization, privatization and globalization.
He also asserted that the policies of the Govt has resulted in the retrenchment of about 1 crore workers and added that the Multi National Companies are extracting a sum of about Rs 750 crores every year as a result of the decrease in the interest of the Provident fund of the workers by 2%.Commenting on the deplorable living conditions of the Indian workers, Gurudas Dasgupta urged all Indian Workers should unite under one platform and demand for the basic necessities of life.
Even after 50 years of Indian independence, workers of this particular State have not been able to get their full rights, observed Das.
He also added that Women organizations of the State who are known for their courage should stand up against the Central Government's policy of Liberalization, privatization and globalization.
Dasgupta while stating that the All India Trade Union Congress will always stand for the workers of Manipur when it comes to their rights, maintained that the workers themselves should join hands together and form a union first to fight for their rights.
