Following the failure of the talks to resolve the Sadar Hills issue, Sadar Hills District Demand Committee has decided to go ahead with its 48 hours Sadar Hills bandh with effect from 6 pm tomorrow.
In a statement, the general secretary of the Sadar Hills District Demand Committee Thangjakam Misao said that the Committee has been compelled to launch the agitation as proposed.
At the invitation of the Chief Minister, he informed, representatives of the Sadar Hills District Demand Committee met the Chief Minister on November 14 and discussed the present burning issue of the Sadar Hills District.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister requested the Committee members to call off the stir.
But as the Chief Minister has not given any commitment or assurance to look into the demand, the meeting fell flat and could not arrive at any amicable solution, he said.
The Committee general secretary has also appealed to people of all the communities, social organizations, shop keepers, transporters to extend their full co-operation during the bandh.
