Question serial glitch rectified well on time

Imphal, June 21 2009:
As many as 129 candidates failed to appear for the MBBS/BDS entrance test held today to select State nominees for pursuing medical course at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences and other medical institutions outside the State.
Altogether 3241 candidates appeared for the the entrance test conducted under the supervision of State's Health Department at eight centres today.
Meanwhile, a statement issued by the Director of Health Services clarified that serial numbers under Chemistry section in the answer sheet were printed 1 to 25 instead of 26 to 50 .
Pointing out that these answer scripts are specially printed for digital correction and to maintain complete confidentiality they are printed outside the State, the statement also affirmed the sealed packets containing answer sheets are opened hours before the examination.
No manual interface is allowed and the required number of answer scripts are packed based on the serial numbers and despatched to the (test) centres, it maintained.
The Director W Motilal Singh also said immediately upon detection of the error, announcements were made at all centres and doubts clarified after which the examination process proceeded smoothly.
The erroneous numbering in the Chemistry section in the answer script will not in any way affect the process of correction or marking, he added regretting inconvenience caused to the candidates.
