Decrying threats on three of their officers by a faction of the banned KCP, employees of the Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat suspended their duty and staged a sit-in-protest demonstration today.
Owing to the protest demonstration, functioning of the Assembly Secretariat remained affected for the day.
The KCP faction has reportedly threatened Assembly Secretary Y Indira Devi, Under Secretary Elangbam Thoiba and Under Secretary Mayengbam Shyam with dire consequences if no contact is made within 5 days from November 1 .
The banned outfit has also alleged the three officers of misusing a sum of Rs 3 lakhs collected from the employees as well as instigating the arrest of three cadres of the outfit by the police from Patsoi on October 19 .

Talking to mediapersons on the sidelines of the protest demonstration, secretary of Manipur Legislative Assembly Secretariat Employees' Association S Jayanta said that the threats on the three officers should be withdrawn on humanitarian ground.
The three accused officers, who were also present at the occasion, refuted the charges levelled against them as baseless and unfounded.
It be recalled here that three youths who were allegedly threatening the family members of Under Secretary Shyam at his Patsoi residence have been rounded up by the local people and the people on October 19 afternoon.
A fish can containing hand grenade was found left behind by unidentified armed persons at the residence of Under Secretary Thoiba at Tera on the night of October 8 .
Another hand grenade had also been lobbed inside the residence of Secretary Indira Devi.
On the other hand, in protest against the grenade attack by unidentified armed persons at the Sega Road Konjeng Hazari Leikai residence of Deputy Director of Tourism RK Ongbi Ibeyaima Devi, people of the locality organised a Wakat Meepham today.
