In a praiseworthy gesture, the 29 Assam Rifles handed over a youth who was being taken by the KCP for recruitment to his parents safely.
On October 31, troops of 29 AR of 26 Sector under HQ IGAR (South) discovered the movement of underground elements from Imphal to Moreh and launched an operation on NH 39 and apprehended two individuals, who were identified as Leihaorungbam Sital @ Fangnaba (19) of Takhel and Laushangbam Chingkhei Nganba @ Paupa (16) also of Takhel.
The press release said, on being interrogate, Sital @ Fangnaba was found to be an active member of the proscribed militant group KCP who was working as a project officer for recruitment for the group.
On that day he was taking one fresh recruit L Chingkhei Nganba @ Paupa Singh to join the group.
The active cadre has been handed over to Imphal West Police and the misled youth being taken away for recruitment training was handed over back to his parents in presence of police official.
This humane gesture of Assam Rifles is a massage to youths of Manipur to follow the mainstream for a peaceful life, the press release said.
