Even as the Election Commission of India has announced repoll in 34 polling stations in the hill districts, the Naga People's Front has raised strong objection against the State election authority's decision to conduct repoll in five polling stations of Chingai Assembly Constituency.
Speaking to the Sangai Express, NPF general secretary Angam Ruivah contended that presiding officers of the five polling stations located at Somdal and Ngaimu villages had taken custody of polling material after due completion of election formalities.
Angam expressed awe as to what circumstances prompted the election authorities to announce repoll in the said polling stations when no problem was caused to the electors.
With the presiding officers duly completing the formality and taking custody of the polling materials decision to hold repolling in 45/44 Somdal A-1, 45/45 Somdal A-2, 45/46, Somdal B, 45/56 Ngaimu and 45/47 Ngaimu B is condemnable, the NPF functionary said.
