Imphal, January 15:
Expressing serious concern over the devastating fire that has been raging in Dzukou valley for about a week, Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) has described the catastrophe as a Naga national loss.
In a statement made available to the press, kilo kilonser (home) of the underground government Shevoho Keyho said though the destruction of such a magnitude in the forest fire had never been seen in the history of Naga nation, the catastrophic loss in the bio-diversity of Dzukou could be enormous if properly evaluated by experts.
The cause of the fire has not been reported nor known, he said, adding that if the cause of the fire was not accidental but carelessness (if not intentional), then the Nagas particularly the neighbouring villagers must make an extra effort to find out the culprit/s and deal with the crime in an appropriate manner.
Appreciating the efforts of the neighbouring villages and certain other agencies which are trying to prevent the fire from spreading to other areas, Keyho said such commendable service is the call of the hour.
