Imphal, March 24:
Expressing dismay over negligible time slot in broadcasting tribal programmes in Doordarshan Kendra Imphal and Doordarshan's North East channel, All Tribal Students' Union Manipur has submitted a memorandum to the Deputy director General of Programme Production Centre, North East india (Guwahati) demanding more time slot.
The ATSUM representation also highlighted inconveniences and unnecessary expenditures incurred by intending tribal programme producers as they have to travel upto Guwahati to attend interviews for securing commission programme.
The demands include atleast 45 minutes time slot for tribal programmes in a day in DDK Imphal, tribal-wise frequency of programme be made and notified to the entire tribal representatives of Manipur, allotment of 30 percent royalty and commission programme to tribal producers, revision of the 2006-07 commission programme in case demand for 30 percent of the commission could not be fulfilled, inclusion of atleast one tribal programme officer in any interview in DDK Imphal and use of mother tongue (tribal) while broadcasting tribal-people related documentaries.
Recalling that similar proposals were also highlighted earlier in 2006 but to no avail till date, ATSUM threatened to launch agitations in case of failure to evoke positively this time around.
