Roji Restaurant located at Sawombung, which has reportedly become a house of immoral activities, was completely burnt down yesterday night by the local people after the proscribed RPF declared indefinite ban on it.
The declaration came after RPF confirmed reports of encouraging immoral activities in the restaurant besides pulling up some individuals engaging in such lewd acts.
The individuals nabbed by RPF were handed over to the local Meira Paibis after they were produced before media persons.
The restaurant was owned by one Naobicha Devi (30) of Phaknung.
According to a spokesman of the RPF's Department of Communication and Publicity, one Sanasam Kennedy (26) of Uyumpok Mamang Leikai indulged in immoral act with one Moirangthem Tondon alias Joymati (24), staying at her sister's place at Chingmeirong Khongnang Karak, in the restaurant on March 21.Punshungbam Samarendra (14) of Sangomshang, who works as waiter in the restaurant, posing as an AMSU volunteer with an identity card issued in connection with the 41st general assembly of AMSU demanded a certain of amount of money from the duo after they were caught redhanded.
As Kennedy had no money on that day, he left his Honda Activa which he reclaimed the next day after forking out Rs 500 to the waiter.
On March 22 too, another couple indulged in similar act in the restaurant with Samarendra, again posing as an AMSU volunteer fined them Rs 400.Acting on such disturbing information, a special team of RPF investigated into the matter after which the restaurant owner Naobicha, Kennedy, Samarendra and Sanajaoba were summoned.
However, as Naobicha collapsed while in the custody of RPF, she was being treated at JN Hospital.
Except Naobicha all others were handed over to the Meira Paibis of Sangomshang, Chingarel Tejpur and Phaknung after they were produced before media persons yesterday.
The identity card used by Samarendra in exacting fines from the immoral individuals belong to one Khoisnam Sanajaoba (21) of Phaknung.
The identity card was issued to Sanajaoba in connection with the general conference of AMSU held recently at GP Women's College.
Samarendra took it from him.
All the individuals involved in the immoral act in the restaurant and exacting fines for such lewd acts confessed before the media persons that all these reports were true.
Kennedy further disclosed that he has had physical relations with Tondon at a rented room of one Laphoi at Dhobi Machu Leirak and employed in the Family Welfare Department, at the house of one Ramesh at Takyel and also at a restaurant located at Lilong.
He further stated that he would accept whatever action that may be initiated against him by the Meira Paibis for his immoral activities.
While declaring an indefinite ban of Roji Restaurant for encouraging immoral activities and physical relationships before marriage, the spokesman warned Tondon to surrender to the Meira Paibis by March 25.As for the punishment to be given to Tondon and Kennedy, the Meira Paibis will decide, said the spokesman.
Further, warning Naobicha to give in to the Meira Paibis as soon as she is discharged from JN Hospital, he also asked the duo indulged in immoral in Roji Restaurant on March 22 to surrender to the Meira Paibis by March 25.Reminding that RPF has been campaigning against immoral and anti-social activities and lewd behaviour, the spokesman appealed to the restaurant owners as well as the people to check such immoral activities.
Any restaurant owner who fails to pay heed to the appeal would be dealt with accordingly, warned the RPF spokesman.
