Acting on the reports of the existence of a large number of unauthorised LPG dealers and black marketing of LPG filled cylinders in Imphal and greater Imphal area, FCS Minister Y Erabot checked the stock registers of some LPG agents besides inspecting the godowns of these agencies personally.
The Minister said that he along with some officials conducted raids at some LPG dealers under the Manipur Cooking Gas (Licensing and Control) Order 1986.During his inspection at M/S K&K Indane Service located at Sagolband Tera Bazar, it was discovered that numerous consumer cards were issued to a single consumer which is against the rules and laws governing the distribution of LPG.
Moreover, the godown of the LPG agency was found located in populated area which is against the rules.
Suspicious of the weight, of the filled LPG cylinders the Minister brought 51 LPG cylinders from K&K Indane Service to check its weight at the Weights and Measures Department.
Disclosing that he confiscated 67 unauthorised consumer cards, Erabot maintained that home service system by private bodies is against the law.
This system is a conspiracy to earn undue profits and to deceive consumers.
The Minister also seized 51 LPG cylinders including 28 filled ones stocked without necessary documents at the residence of one Wahengbam Ashokkumar alias Tomba of Tera Bazar.
Continuing the inspection tour at M/S Jemon Gas Services at Kwakeithel, Erabot and his team seized 20 LPG cylinders including two filled ones stocked within the compound of Salvation Academy.
Even as Jemon Gas agency contended that the Salvation Academy where students are studying is their extension point, the agency could not produce necessary documents to prove their point, conveyed the Minister.
