Imphal, July 18:
An ugly scene unfolded at Wangoo Sagang when Health Minister and one of the senior members of the SPF Government Ph Parijat was stopped by an officer of the 7 Assam Rifles near its post and quizzed the Minister on where he went and for what purpose he was there.
Extremely peeved with the incident, the Minister is set to bring the matter before the Chief Minister tomorrow, possibly after the presidential election.
Speaking to The Sangai Express, Parijat said that the CO of 7 AR has apologised on behalf of the Major, but the Minister has asked for a written apology.
Interestingly the officer was attired in shorts and a T shirt when he stopped the senior Minister and asked him to come out from his official car.
The Minister obliged and what followed was a series of verbal slug fest, with Ph Parijat giving it back to the young officer word for word.
The Health Minister was on his way back after inspecting a number of Primary Health Centres and PHSC at Kumbi AC today when his cavalcade was stopped near the 7 AR post, ALFA Company.
One of the sepoys walked up to the Minister and informed him, "Our Sir wants to talk to you".
Soon a young man dressed in shorts and a T Shirt came out and proceeded towards the car of the Minister.
When Parijat inquired why his vehicle is being stopped, the AR man shot back and countered with a question, "Where did you go?".
Later it came to light that the man dressed in shorts and T shirt is the post commander of the 7 AR at Wangoo Sagang, Major Thakkar.
Ph Parijat explained that he had gone on an official tour to Wangoo Ahallup and queried whether the police.had not informed the post of his visit there.
At this the Major replied that no information was given to him.
As the exchange of words grew heated, the Major asked the Minister to come down from his official car.
A visibly angry Parijat then shot back at the Major and questioned him who he is to ask a Minister to come down from his car.
Parijat however did alight from his vehicle.
The Major was undeterred and maintained that it is not a question of who is higher according to protocol and again questioned where Parijat had gone.
Parijat made it clear that he is the Health and Family Welfare Minister of the State Government and only after this the Major let him go.
