Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh has asserted that stringent action would be taken in case involvement of State security personnel is ascertained in connection with the December 31, 2005 shooting incident at North AOC.
The CM made the assurance to a delegation of coach and sportspersons who called on the former after a protest rally this morning demanding that guilty persons be produced without further delay.
Maintaining that investigation to trace the culprits who opened fire on the fateful night would be completed in the shortest possible time, the Chief Minister categorically affirmed that security personnel found involved in the case would be promptly terminated.
The CM also assured the delegation members that the investigators have been able to verify that the shots were fired from AK-47 rifle and some empty cases had been retrieved from the crime scene.
Prior to meeting the Chief Minister, coach along with sportspersons numbering around 1000 took out a silent protest rally starting from near Khuman Lampak indoor Stadium at around 7 am.
The rallyists comprised of coach and players currently taking part in regular coaching camps in various sports disciplines.
With Khuman Lampak sports complex as the starting point the rally marched through MMTA complex, Khoyathong crossing and Raj Bhawan gate before police personnel prevented further access beyond Nupi Lan Complex.
A three member delegate were, however, allowed to meet the Chief Minister and submit a memorandum.
Before the meeting the CM is informed to have detailed discussion to matters concerning present state of security with the DGP and IGP (L/O).
The rallyists also carried placards denouncing killing of innocent persons, demanding disclosure of identity of the person/s or organisation involved in the criminal act and producing the guilty.
Mention may be made that two persons were killed in the North AOC firing incident while another is undergoing treatment in critical condition.
Among the deceased include a national level canoeing and kayaking player named Loitongbam Govind (30).
