Imphal, May 24:
Reacting to the news report which appeared on the May 23 issue of this paper under the caption, Failed doc admitted to RIMS PG course, the RIMS authority has issued a statement today refuting the contents of the story.
A statement issued by the Media Advisor of RIMS today said that the doctor in question, DR TW Bhutia, is a nominee of Sikkim Govt and he appeared for the admission test to PG Course (Pathology) on April 4 this year.
The result was issued the same day but his name did not appear in the list of successful candidates.
Dr Bhutia then submitted a written representation to RIMS authority on April 17 requesting for a review of his answer script.
Accordingly a re-evaluation committee was formed on May 15 to re-evaluate the answer script of Dr Bhutia, said the statement adding that Prof Hoping Vashum, HoD of Surgery, and Prof M Kulachandra of Medicine were on the committee.
The re-evaluation committee found that there were certain over sights in awarding marks to Dr Bhutia and after necessary rectification, the candidate secured 344 marks out of 400 which qualified him to undergo the PG course.
However the rules and regulations of PG entrance examination issued by RIMS this year clearly states "there will be no rechecking/re-evaluation of the answer scripts.
