Imphal, May 24:
The rigorous curbs on unfair means enforced in this year's Class XII Examination in Churachandpur has apparently its impact, as all the six higher secondary schools/colleges in Churachandpur produced one of their worst result in years in the Class XII Examination under CHSEM whose results were declared late last night.
While no candidates from Lamka Government College could clear the examination in both Arts and Science streams, there is hardly anything for cheer in Churachandpur Government College too, as only eight students pass from there in all streams out of more than 300 students who appeared in the examination.
The four private institutions in the town, Rayburn College, Sielmat Christian College, Children's Tr Hr Sec School and Bethany Christian College also recorded pass percentages well below their normal scores.
However, it is hard to pronounce judgments on their performance yet, as detailed information on pass percentage for the whole state etc is not available till now.
While the general picture thrown up by the results is a bleak one, four students, three from Rayburn College and one from Sielmat Christian College found their place within the top ten merit lists, in both arts and science streams.
Out of the four, three are girls T Ginvanglian s/o Pastor T Lalkhogin, New Lamka of Rayburn College, who attained 8th position in science by obtaining 381 marks, with letter marks in Maths and Paite is a bright student all the way, and is a recipient of the National Merit Scholarship which he obtained through an all India Examination.
It is interesting to note that he had also passed his Class X in first division from St.
Paul's School here with letter marks in mathematics and Paite.
He took active part in various activities and was general secretary of Evangelical Union-Rayburn while reading Class XII.
His families said that he is now in Delhi and has appeared in IIT Entrance test held yesterday.
The 7th Position holder Ms C Rosangpuii d/o Zirliana of Hmuia Veng, Lamka and the 9th positioner Ms Levina Nianggouching, d/o Ms Dimnian of Upper Lamka, in the arts stream, did their schooling from Children's Training Higher Secondary School here and both of them had passed their Class X in second division.
Ms.Rosangpuii is from Sielmat Christian College and Levina Nianggouching is from Rayburn and both of them usually topped in their class tests in the college too.
While Levina, an unassuming girl, who also obtained letter marks in Paite said that she is still undecided on her future, Rosangpuii said that she may pursue an economics degree from Delhi or Shillong.
The 8th positioner in arts, Ms Mavis Chiinthiannem, d/o T Vungkholian of Pearsonmun, who obtained letter marks in Paite, also did her schooling at St.
Paul's Institute here, passing in first division in 2002.She also took active role in the students' activities and was a regular at Evangelical Union meetings.
