Though still not appreciable, there is a slight improvement in the pass percentage of students who appeared in the HSSLC, Examination, 2004 conducted by CHSEM, the results of which was announced yesterday.
The pass percentage recorded for all the four streams - Science, Arts, Commerce and Vocational this year is pegged at 36.69 percent as against 29.52 percent recorded last year.
Girls did better than boys bagging three top spots.Out of 16396 total number of students appeared in the examination this year, only 6017 students clear through the first public examination of the students.
As per the results announced yesterday, out of 6017 science stream students who passed the examination, only 744 of them managed to find a place in the 1st division, 3309 of them in 2nd division and another 525 in 3rd division while 68 others who flunked in one subject last year cross the hurdle this time.
In Art stream, only 49 students cleared the examination in 1st division, 543 in 2nd division and 617 in 3rd division.
In Commerce stream, 17 students passed in 1st divisions, 99 in 2nd division and 40 in 3rd division.
While in the Vocational, 4 students passed in 1st division and two of them in 2nd division.
It may noted here that the pass percentage recorded in the HSSLC examination conducted in 2001 was 66.94 percent, 60.83 percent in 2002 and 29.52 percent in 2003.This clearly shows that the pass percentage in the examination has come down over the last four-five year.
