Imphal, February 21 2012:
Ahead of the HSLC and HSSLC examinations, the Zeliangrong Students' Union (ZSU), Longmai Students' Union (LSU) and Inpui Students' Union (ISU) have today cautioned all concerned against use of unfair means.
Briefing mediapersons at Manipur Press Club today, LSU functionary Shanguruh Kamei said Noney centre for the forthcoming class X examination will be a private centre which will accommodate candidates from eight institutions of the area.
Conveying that a 'private centre examination committee' was already constituted some years back to check all forms of malpractices in the centre, he however alleged lack of cooperation by the invigilators thereby resulting in numerous cases of candidates using unfair means.
Noting that a large number of non-local students, particularly from the valley areas, prefer to appear the annual class X and XI examinations at the Noney centre, shanguruh opined that this is due to the widespread belief among the candidates that they can indulge in unfair means at hill district exam centres to scale the test.
Asserting that volunteers of the three student bodies would undertake specific drives to curb use of unfair means at this centre, he cautioned that whether it is the candidate or the invigilators, stringent punitive action would be initiated against all those found guilty.
citing an instance of increase in activities at hill district schools only when HSLC or HSSLC exams are round the corner, he claimed that Ashram School of Noney is virtually non-existent throughout the year as its building is in shambles with collapse classrooms and hardly any sign of students.
Nevertheless, the same school produces many a students at HSLC examinations thereby leading to suspicion that school authorities are indirectly encouraging use of unfair means during examinations at hill areas.
ZSU secretary (education) NK Alunbou Newmai who also attended the media briefing conveying best wishes to the students urged for cooperation from all concerned to check all forms of exam-related malpractices.
