NSUC detects teachers' shortage; urges officials

There is shortage of eleven teachers of different subjects in United College, Lambung, Chandel which needs to be filled urgently, the Naga Students' Union, Chandel (NSUC) has pointed out.
As per survey conducted by the students' body as a step towards fostering quality education in Chandel district, the students' body comes across the lack of teachers in various subjects, according to a NSUC statement.
According to their finding, the college lacks two lecturers in Physics, three lecturers in Mathematics, three lecturers in Education, two lecturers in History and one lecturer in English.
Maintaining that lack of teaching faculty can not be compromised as semester system has been introduced, the NSUC appealed the authority concern to provide the faculties immediately.
It also warned of launching agitation in case the demand is not fulfilled immediately.
It further appealed the electricity department to ensure uninterrupted power supply during the HSLC and HSSLCE exams.
Meanwhile, accusing departmental officers of Chandel for deteriorating their concerned department which effected the smooth functioning of the district administration, the NSUC has also asked six departmental officers of Chandel district to meet the student leaders before March 10 .
The six departments that NSUC mentioned included ZEO, Chandel; CMO (alongwith accountant), Chandel; EE, PHED; EE Electricity; EE, PWD; and EE, Minor Irrigation Department.
Failing to meet the student leaders on time, the concerned should face the consequence, it cautioned.
