As the State Government does not have enough resources at its disposal for implementing the pay scale of the 6th Finance Commission to its employees in tune with the move being made by the Centre, the State Government has requested the Union Finance Ministry for providing additional resources.
The Chief Secretary of the State has written to the Union Finance Ministry for providing additional resources in case the State Government has to toe the line in extending the new pay scale in tune with the move being made by the Central Government for implementing the new pay scale under the 6th Finance Commission for its employees.
Responding to a question on how much fund would be required for providing the new pay scale to the State Government employees, an official of the State Finance Department said the matter needs to be analysed after studying the recommendation of the Commission and the exact amount is not known as of now.
Manipur has over 60 thousand Govt employees.
