A national convention organised by the International Peace and Social Advancement (IPSA) today attempted to identify ancient flags of erstwhile Manipur Kingdom.
The national convention on the theme "Identification of State Flag of Ancient Kingdom of Kangelipak (Manipur) was held at GM Hall, Imphal.
Many educationists and intellectuals of the state took part in the interaction session which discussed minutely on the theme.
Education minister, L Jayentakumar, speaking as chief guest of the convention stressed the important of holding the convention on the theme so that the flag of the erstwhile Kingdom of Manipur can be identified and keep as treasure of future generation.
"It is a right step to identify the fag by today's generation for the sake of future generation," Jayentakumar asserting that "it is not an easy task to identify the flag.
A thorough study with a in-depth research is a must.
Commissioner of art and culture, RK Nimai who attended the inaugural function as guest of honour observed that research means to find out the truth and it is the right step to hold such discussion to identify the flag in a very scientific manner.
As the task is not an easy one, a deep research and invitation of experts' opinion is a must.
Nimai further said that flags of the then kingdom of Manipur were different for every change of king.
It is a must to find out the differences and commonness in the flags that keep on changing with each king.
It will not be an easy task to find out the identity of the flag as the civilization of Manipur is old as more than 2000 year and the flag that would be identified is to be a realistic one, he went on to observe.
Advisor of IPSA, H Ibotmobi who presided over the function said that it is an important task ahead of the people of the state to identify the flag.
Keeping in mind this important aspect, the convention is being organised.
The interaction session which followed the inaugural function was moderated by retired principal of Presidency College and also former member of royal council of Sana Konung Ng Kangjia Mangang.
Participants in the discussion expressed their findings on the flags of the kings of ancient Manipur.
