Volunteers of the All Manipur Anti-Drug Association (AMADA) with the support of the residents of Mantripukhri today caught red-handed three youths including two girls with 115 SP capsules and 25 pieces of N-10 tablets at Manitripukhri.
The youths coming on a motorcycle were caught during an anti drug drive in the area.
The two girls were identified as Takhellambam Sonia (17) daughter of T Budhi of Sega Road Takhellambam Leikai and Kshetrimayum Babina (16) daughter of late Muhindro of Keishamthong Hodam Leirak while the boy was identified as Arambam Boby (21) son A Amo of Kangabam Leikai.
When produced before the media today at the AMADA office at Keishampat, they admited they were drug users.
Sonia admitted that she consumes SP capsules while Babina said she uses N-10 .
The items detected from their possessions were bought by the boy from one Hakim of Kshetri Bengoon, they said.
Babina alleged that she was introduced to drug abuse by Sonia when she had complainted of a headache.
She never taken the drug before, Babina added.
But Sonia said that they had been using drugs from earlier.
Boby has been at a rehabilitation centre two times for using the items.
He had consumed 12 SP-capsules on the day he was caught by volunteers of AMADA and locals of Mantripukhri.
Speaking to media persons, secretary organisation and coordination, K Meghachandra of AMADA expressed concern over the girls being being drug addicts AMADA is involved in a hectic campaign to eliminate drug abuse in the state.
"This is an unexpected and a serious matter in our society, he said expressing worries that the society was fast heading towards a dark future.
The three youths were later handed over to their respective parents and guardians with the advice to stop drug abuse.
