Lamka, August 21 2010:
The Chief of Umtal village, an interior village in Churachandpur's Thanlon sub-division today sought the intervention of the district administration to save the JB School in his village from falling apart.
The Chief's letter, a copy of which was made available to this correspondent said only two out of the five teachers posted at the village JB School would care to attend the institute they are posted.
The Headmaster who is based at Imphal and his wife who incidentally is also an Assistant teacher at the village visited the village only once since their posting some months back.
The Assistant Headmaster also hailing from Imphal is no different, he said.
The village Chief Lientinkhup further claimed that despite his best efforts to prevail upon the three teachers to attend the school was continuously snubbed.
At one point of time the Headmaster even told me that he was ready to face any consequences from the Department, he rued.
With just two junior teachers identified as Md Riyajuddin Khan of Kwakta and Chinkhangin from the district bearing the uphill task of teaching the entire students, it is practically impossible to sustain the trouble any longer, irrespective of my best efforts to assist them said Umtal village chief, Lientinkhup in his appeal to the Deputy Commissioner and the Chief Executive Officer ADCC for their immediate intervention.
