Imphal, July 30 2009:
Memang Haokip, son of chief of S Moljol Village, Moreh Lun khojan Haokip has alleged that Hill Tribal Council, Moreh and KNA have been trying to take over land with force.
Addressing a press conference at Manipur Press Club here today, Memang Haokip informed that on October 9, 2002, a piece of land belonging to Moljol village had been given to one of the kinsmen, identi fied as Mangthang Haokip on the basis of a Gift Deed.
However, in defiance of the Gift Deed, a new village had been created naming it as Tilnumunjang but attempted to appoint a chief, Memang Haokip said.
At the time of signing the Gift Deed, it had been men tioned clearly that the said land was not transferable.
Mangthang Haokip passed away in 2006.But his son Tongkholen Haokip sold the entire land in question to one Thangmang Haokip of Moreh Ward no.7 and fur ther tried to extract an approval from ADC Moreh over his claim as the chief of Tilnumunjang village, he informed.
Despite putting pressures against such false claim, ADC Moreh had given the approval.
Subsequently, a complaint had been lodged with the Principal Secretary Hills in this regard.
Acting on the com plaint, the Principal Secretary Hills had directed the ADC to submit an inquiry report over the matter.
However, before submission of the report, the ADC had been transferred, the son of the village chief said.
He further informed that later on a case had been filed in the court of Civil Judge, Senior Division, Lamphelpat which con ducted the hearing the case of case on July 16.But HTC filed an application countering case.
Now HTC and KNA are threatening of dire consequences if the case is not withdrawn from the court within this week, Memang Haokip informed, adding that KNA has also not only forced slaughtering of five Pigs but also made his ailing and bed-ridden father to sign on a paper to allow transferring of the land to another person.
Expressing serious concern over the conduct of an armed group like KNA which is a signatory of the Suspension of Operation, the son of the village chief has also drawn the attention of the authorities concerned in this regard.
