In view of the drought situation prevailing in the State, an expert committee led by Principal Secretary in charge of Agriculture Department, O Naba kishore, has mooted plantation of alternative seeds in places where paddy plantation would not be possible.
According to an official source, the expert committee decided plantation of alter native seeds in co-ordination between Agriculture and Horticulture Department.
Consequently, the expert committee has recommended providing the seeds of Sagol Hawai (Black Ram), Kobi (Golden Acre variety) and Hawai Ashangbi (Cow Pea) among the farmers.
In connection with this new proposal, an action plan for all the districts would also be prepared soon, the source informed, adding that the last date of issuing and submission of forms for National Agricultural Insurance Scheme has also been extended by the Centre till August 15 .
