Two suspected UG cadres have been slain in two separate incidents of reported encounters with security forces today.
The first incident of gun fight took place at Yairipok Yambem Tera Chingjil under Yairipok police station.
The second encounter took place at Langthabal Heibok foothills under Singjamei police station.
According to a press re lease issued by Additional SP, Jogeshchandra on behalf of Thoubal SSP Clay Khongsai, the first encounter ensued when a combined team of Thoubal police commandos, Imphal East commandos and troops of 34 AR, acting on specific information, moved to Yairipok Yambem area at about 10.30 am today.
As the combined security team approached Yambem Tera Chingjin, the security personnel were fired upon by suspected militants, resulting in an encounter that lasted for about 10 minutes.
One suspected militant was killed in the encounter from whose possession one 9 mm pistol, a magazine and three live rounds were recovered, the SSP added".
At about 12.30 pm today, another suspected militant was also killed in a reported shoot-out with a combined team of Imphal West commandos and troops of 28 AR at Langthabal Heibok hills.
One .38 revolver and two live rounds were recovered from the slain individual.
Police have picked up both the corpses and deposited them at RIMS mortuary.
The individual shot dead in the second incident had the word FANA tattooed on his left wrist.
He was wearing grey pants and yellowish shirt.
The man killed in Yairipok encounter has been identified as Moirang them Mohen (40) s/o Nimai of Wangoo Sagol Lambi.
