AR celebrates Ningol Chakouba at Pallel

Imphal, October 26 2014:
The 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the HQ IGAR (South) organised 'Ningol Chakouba' function at Pallel in Manipuri traditional style and fervor on Saturday.
According to a release of PRO, IGAR(South), Brigadier Rajiv Chhibber, Commander, 26 Sector Assam Rifles hosted the function and extended greetings to families and elderly ladies who participated in the function.
Approximately 100 ladies attended the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Commander emphasized the rich heritage and culture of Manipur and acute necessity to preserve the same.
He further highlighted the importance of respecting the age old customs and how the Assam Rifles as "Friends of the North East" have integrated closely over the years with the local traditions.
On this occasion, all the ladies were facilitated and presented gifts as a mark of respect.
The ladies in turn extended their gratitude, for inviting them on the auspicious occasion.
The event ended with a traditional lunch, which is central to the occasion.
Meanwhile, the 40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) celebrated Ningol Chakkouba festival at Singjamei post on October 25 .
A total of 30 women clad in traditional attire attended the event.
The celebration acted as a platform for increasing mutual trust and confidence between Assam Rifles and local population.
The ladies who attended the celebration were served with lunch and were also presented gifts.
