Two shot at as 'Lagao' game turns violent

Imphal, October 26 2014:
A Lagao game played at Kakwa Huidrom Leikai under Singjamei Police Station in Imphal West turned violent when two persons were shot at by gamblers after the former tried to stop the game from playing in front of their houses.
The incident took place on October 25 at around 8.30 pm.
The injured persons have been identified as Huidrom Kanta (36) s/o H Shanti of Kakwa Huidrom Leikai and Huidrom Tilokchand (34) s/o (L) H Bijoy of the same locality.
Reports said some people coming in Honda iv Tech and Hyndai cars were playing the Lagao game in front of H Kanta residence.
A heated altercation erupted when Kanta told the gamblers not to play nearby his house.
All of a sudden, one of the gamblers took out an M 20 pistol and opened a round of bullet at Kanta hitting his right foot.
When H Tilokchand tried to stop the fight, he was also hit by a bullet on his right thigh leaving him badly wounded.
Angered by the highhandedness of the gamblers, nearby locals rushed to the area and damaged the cars.
However, all the gamblers managed to flee the area.
Another person identified as Laishram Haridas (42) of the locality was also hurt when he tried to pacify the fight.
He is undergoing treatment at SHIJA Hospital.
