UPHC inaugurated

Health and Family Welfare Minister Phungzathang Tonsing today inaugurated a newly constructed Urban Primary Health Centre (UPHC) at Imphal East district's Thongju Part-II Konok Khongnangkhong.
Speaking at the inauguration function organised by Directorate of Health Services, Phungzathang Tonsing said that the State Government would make necessary arrangement to function the centre 24x7 .
He added that with Chief Minister O Ibobi paying special attention to the health sector, the State has witnessed rise in the standard of health care facilities.
Although, there are some equipment and manpower constraints, the State Health Director is putting in wholehearted efforts to make the centre 24x7 functional, the Minister added.
He further said that according to a guideline of Medical Council of India, the office of CMO Imphal East would be shifted from JNIMS complex to the newly inaugurated building of UPHC Thongju Part-II .
As the centre would have child delivery facility, necessary modern equipment for the said purpose would be installed at the centre soon, the Minister said.
Saying that the facilities available at the centre benefit not only the locals but also people from other areas, Phungzathang Tonsing also directed the UPHC staff to take up school health programmes in consultation with the CMO.
Thongju AC MLA Th Bishworjit while speaking at the function urged the people of the area to extend cooperation to UPHC staff in the smooth functioning of the centre.
Facilities like medical care systems, child delivery, immunization, laboratory, family planning and daily OPD service would be available at the centre.
The Director of Health Services, Family Welfare Services Director and other high ranking officials also attended the function.
