The month long observation of Handicapped Welfare organized by Handicapped Development Foundation, (HD Foundation) commenced from December 3 with the theme of "Raise your voice for equality" was concluded today.
A press statement of the HD Foundation said that as a part of the observation, a workshop on "Role of Print and Electronic Media to Bring the Handicapped People in Social Mainstream" was held at Manipur Press Club, Imphal on December 3 last under the aegis of the Foundation.
A disability-related documentary film depicting the extraordinary talents of physically challenged persons of Manipur was also screened at Kendra Vidyalaya, Lamphelpat on December 8 and the same was also shown at Hao Ground, Chingamathak and Hapta kangjeibung on December 18 and 19 respectively to spread awareness to the children.
The HD Foundation further conducted consultative programs and counseled handicapped children at different parts of Imphal including Heinoupok, Kongba Mutum Leirak, Wangkhei, Patsoi on December 8 and 9.The objective of the counseling programme was to help bringing handicapped children to the mainstream of life through proper education said the foundation.
A wheelchair donated by SSA State Mission Authority was also presented to Chakpram Lokeshori Devi, of Chingamathak on December 17 and tricycles were also presented to RK Bobby a resident of Sagolband Tera Bazaar on December 18, Naorem Naobicha of Uripok Yambem Leikai and Oinam Bheirop of Uripok Bachaspati Maning Leikai on December 21.
The foundation also said that prizes of essay writing competition held on October 27 last on the theme of "Soinairaba Amadi Meeyamgi Thoudang" will be distributed soon.
