Imphal, January 03 2008:
THE LONG march of the Manipuri Diaspora which started from Silchar on December 29 last has come almost halfway towards Imphal.
The 500 strong marchers today reached Erang on National Highway 53 in their 167 km-long march.
The marchers halted at Kambiron, the birth place of Haipou Jadonang (1905-1931) last night.
The village chief showed his magnanimity by permitting the marchers to halt the night at the village.
Inspector of CRPF, E-27, Phurailatpam Ronibala received and offered snacks to the long-marchers at Merryland in Nungba sub-division.
Deputy commandant Karma Bhutia, Nabakeshwor and Ronibala also joined the march for some distance.
The marchers will halt tonight at Erang.
