Imphal, October 25 2010:
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), at a meeting held today with its president Gaikhangam in the chair, has reviewed preparations being made for the visit of the Congress president Sonia Gandhi to the state.
The meeting was attended by Executive Committee member of the party prominently discussed the proposed visit of Sonia Gandhi.
She is expected to visit in the first week of November, a source from the party said.
Tabling the tentative programme of the visit of the UPA chairperson, the meeting decided to form a sub-committee to overlook the arrangement made by the party for the visit.
Among others, the meeting was attended by MLA T Mangibabu, M Oken, Kh Loken, Y Meghajit and MPCC general secretary, Bidyapati Senjam.
In the meantime, MPCC president Gaikhangam is leaving Imphal for New Delhi tomorrow.
The main purposed of his visit is to hold consultation with Sonia Gandhi about his visit in the state, the source said.
Mention may be made that Sonia Gandhi is expected to visit Imphal to inaugurate newly contructed three multi�storey marketing sheds of Khwairamband Bazar, Khuga Dam, a tribal market in Imphal, a shopping complex inside the Congress Bhavan etc.
She will also laid foundation stones of some projects in Imphal if come.
