Imphal, September 21 2009:
A state funeral was given today to Assistant Commandant N Manoranjan (IRLA-7054), son of Ngasepam Memcha of RIMS Complex, Lamphelpat, who belonged to the 210 Cobra Batalion and took the Naxals bullets along with AC Rakesh Chaurasia on September 18 near Singanmadugu village in Dantewar, Chhatisgarh.
A statement issued by the DIG (Adm & Ops) Deep Kumar Sirohi, PRO of IGP, CRPF, Manipur and Nagaland informed that Manoranjan had busted a gun factory and killed one Naxalite at Burkalara in Dantewara.
He was coming back with 2 lathe machines, 9 Burmar guns and solar panels when his party came under attack from large group of Naxalites present in the thick jungle of the Maoist Red zone.
Two of his jawans sustained injuries.
In order to save the injured jawans both the officers, N Manoranjan and Rakesh Chaurasia made a break-out to divert the heavy automatic fired by the Naxals.
In the fierce encounter, 50 Naxals cold blood killers were eliminated and six CRPF jawans laid down their lives in the service of the motherland, the statement said.
Manoranjan is remembered by his physical training instructor, Kopeshwar, who also belongs to Manipur, as a young daring, hard working, honest teetotaler, and non-smoker who made us stand tall one day.
His mortal remains arrived by IC 213 today and were received by his relatives and Madan Singh Raghav, DIG, CRPF Imphal Range.The CM along with his cabinet colleague, senior bureaucrats including DC of Imphal West, DGP of Manipur Police and other dignitaries were present at the cremation, it informed.
