It is a well known fact that no Nation having economic crisis will be able to march towards development and peace, but it can be well overcome by co-operative movement only, said Manipur State Co-operative Union Presi dent Kh Borekeshore.
He was speaking as a guest of honour in a Na tional Co-operative Union of India (NCUI) sponsored one-day seminar held on the topic, Self Governance in Co-operative' at Kuki Inn today.
Stressing on the need to strengthen the co-opera tive movement in a State like Manipur where economic crisis is currently hindering the developmental process, Boreskeshore emphasised on the collective effort of the co-operative members and individuals having faith on co-operative movement.
Co-operation Commis sioner P Vaiphei, Co-operative Society Addi tional Registrar N Jugeshwar and NCUI Deputy Director TS Mehta and MSCU president Kh Borekeshore graced the oc casion as chief guest, president special guest and guest of honour respectively.

the seminar remembered that co-operative move ment was first started in 1904 in India and more than five lakh people have joined the movement so far.
In forming that the State now has around 5000/6000 mem bers, P Vaiphei said that the movement reached the State in 1936.He also stressed on the need to delve into the reasons why the movement is weakened comparing to 15 years back.
