Kohima, May 01 2009:
AFTER ALMOST ten days of thorough inquiry on unfortunate May 2 shoot out incident at Dimapur, the Khaplang faction of GPRN/NSCN today terminated the two Naga army personnel involved in the incident from active national service.
The Publicity Cell, GPRN/NSCN or NSCN-K today said that while understanding the grievances of the Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (All Sumi Students' Union), the termination of the two Naga Army Personnel involved in the incident is based purely on the need for disciplinary measures as envisaged in the National Yehzabo (constitution).
Revealing the identity of the two cadres AB-11584 'ss lieutenant' Nixuyi Sumi and OB-13635 'ss sergeant' Vikai Sumi, the GPRN/NSCN said that the discharge from National Service of the two cadres comes into force with immediate effect.
"This is in pursuance of the pro-people policy adopted and adhered to by GPRN/NSCN," it said adding that "We believe that the Indo-Naga Political solution demands frankness and transparency first from among the Nagas before everything else".
Further, the GPRN/NSCN also maintained that the unconditional apology tendered to the students' community, the victims' family and the Naga People in general, followed by the termination of the two Naga Army personnel is not to be taken as a sign of weakness on the part of the GPRN/NSCN.
"It is a genuine attempt to forge a stronger understanding among the Nagas.
The will of the people must be respected," the GPRN/NSCN stated.
