The proscribed Revolutionary People's Front (RPF) has decried the action of the security forces in the alleged torture of one Khuraijam Basan of Mayailangjing Tamang in connection with the recovery of arms of the PLA deposited at his house by two deserters for surrendering to the security forces on January 11 .
Clarifying that Khuraijam Basan has no connection whatsoever with the RPF or its armed wing, the PLA, a statement issued by the chief, department of publicity of the RPF, GM Changjou contended that the act of torturing him is despicable.
Giving detail of the incident, the RPF statement pointed out that two cadres � Khoirom Santikumar alias Thoujanba (26) son of (L) Gokulchand and (L) Thoibi of Mana Hingkhol Maning Leikai, and Meishnam Kaoba alias Ibomcha (29) son of (L) Sama and Mema of Wangkhei Thambalkhong � of the PLA's 253 mobile Bn have deserted the party with their arms while on a mission early Monday morning.
The two cadres had deposited their arms at the residence of Khuraijam Basan of Mayailangjing Tamang.
A team of the PLA recovered the arms while the two cadres tried to stage surrender before the enemy force, it stated.
In the name of trying to recover the arms, the security forces have tortured the family members of Basan.
The security forces even tried to kidnap the family members in order to recover the arms, according to the statement.
