Tamenglong, January 12 2010:
The Sub- Divisional Officer Tamenglong, C Arthur, IAS, along with his officers visited five villages to inspect how the development works specially the National Employment Guarantee Schemes (NREGS) were taking place in the remote villages yesterday.
The inspection team had interacted with the Village Authority Chairmen and Secretaries, Anganwadi Workers, ASHA workers and some Headmaster in the villages.
The team inquired about the IAY, MSDP, BRGF and other development works taken up in the villages.
Water scarcity is the main problem in many villages of this sub division.
The village head were given training under total sanitation, but as of now there was no any activity of sanitation found in many villages.
The poor villages pour out their various problems to C.Arthur IAS, Sub- Divisional Officer Tamenglong.
It is learnt that SDO Tamenglong is the first government officer that ever visited the remote villages.
C Arthur IAS, SDO Tamenglong assured the poor village that what the government can be done for the poor villages.
He also urged to give full cooperation from the public side.
The team had visited Abungchiang village, Kakuwa, Thingra and Kabuikhullen villages.
The team had seen around the NREGS works and its MC works.
The inspection team also seen the schools, Health Centre and other places.
The team found that some villages did not properly utilized the Material Components (MC) of NREGS meant for construction of culverts, water tanks and others works apart from daily wages of the job card holders.
C Arthur IAS, SDO Tamenglong advised the villages to work sincerely and transparency.
Most of the works executed under NREGS are found construction of Inter Village Roads (IVR) and making terrace field.
During the interaction with the Kadiri, Abungchiang, Village Authority Secretary said that in Abungchiang Part III there was no school, no ASHA and no Anganwadi Centre.
The distance between Part I & II is some 8 kilometers, he said.
There is one ASHA for the whole villages, he added.
In the meantime, Kh Arei, Headmaster of Bakuwa Junior high school said that if NREGS did not come Bakuwa you will not see IVR with jeepable road here.
He also said that this school did not receive any midday meal since the establishment of the school.
Further he also informed that only one teacher was running the school.
No other teacher was posted here however, some contract teachers had joint the school few year back but their contract was over and as of now no contract teachers attend the school, he said.
The poor villages have receipt housing schemes under MSDP and IAY last year, but they are yet to construct the house.
The MC works are not satisfactory in many villages and the SDO Tamenglong C Arthur advised to work sincerely and transparency.
The Kabui Khullen villagers expressed deep gratitude to C Arthur IAS, SDO Tamenglong for helping the village to penetrate vehicle in the remote village.
Penetrating vehicles in the village is long dream of the village where the villagers approach the politician and always failure.
In the meantime, while briefing the media person after the inspection SDO Tamenglong said that the poor villages need technical training to be fully implement the development works.
The same guidelines of NREGS or other guidelines of development should not be enforcing here, the guidelines need to be modify.
The labours of job card holders are very much satisfied however, under material components (MC) are not satisfactory, the officer observed.
The inspection to the others villages will be continuing, he added.
Meanwhile, Kabui khullen Baptist church had celebrates the Golden Jubilee on 8 to 11 under the Freedom in Christ.
It is reported that more than 2,5,257 people attends the celebration including local MLA and Vice Chairman HAC Khangthuanang Panmei and former local MLAs were the among the guest.
