A cache of arms and ammunitions belonging to PLA were recovered in a follow up search after the nabbing of an over-ground member of the outfit by a combined team of police commandos and troops of Assam Rifles.
Imphal west Senior SP, in a statement said that the over-ground member of the PLA identified as Salam Santi Singh (45) son of S Tompokchao Singh of Nongmaikhong Mayai Leikai was apprehended in a joint operation launched by Imphal West, Bishnupur commandos and troops of 33 Assam Rifles under the supervision of DSP(Ops) Imphal West today around 2 pm in Shamushang Santipur area.
In a further search operation based on the disclosures made by the PLA OGW who works under one Sushil of Ithai Wapokpi, the combined team recovered one rubber tube containing three AK-56 rifles, six magazines, two Chinese hand grenades and 284 rounds of AK ammunition, the statement added.
Two activists of KCP (MC) were also apprehended today by troops of 23 Assam Rifles and 33 Assam Rifles in a joint operation launched in the general area of Jemol village in Ukhrul district.
They belong to KCP(MC) L Khuman group and were nabbed around 1.30 am today, a statement of the IGAR(S) said.
They were identified as Heman Rajeshwor @ Boyai, (28) son of H Jugin Singh of Oksongkung Lairenjam Leikai, Moirang and Kiyam Ibomcha@ Ramesh, (36) son of K Iboyaima of Jemol village and were later handed over to Moirang police station, a statement added.
