Security personnel have apprehended in all four underground activists from different parts of the State today.
A team of Imphal East district police commandos apprehended one KCP (MC) cadre from Langol Housing Complex at around 8 am today.
In a statement, SP of Imphal East district Th Radheshyam Singh identified the arrested KCP (MC) cadre as Ningthoujam Jiten Singh alias Angang (32) s/o N Yaima Singh of Keirelphabi Mamang Leikai and informed that one Chinese hand grenade without detonator and one demand letter of the outfit were recovered from his possession.
On verification, Jiten disclosed that he joined the outfit in October this year through one Mani of KCP (MC) and he was involved in extorting money from the general public, Government officials, businessmen, etc, the SP added.
On the other hand, an overground worker of KCP (MC) named Heman Rajeshwar alias Boyai (28) s/o H Jugin Singh of Oksongbung Lairenjam Leikai, Bishnupur district was arrested in a joint search operation carried out by troops of 33 Assam Rifles under Loktak Brigade of Red Shied Division along with 23 Assam Rifles and 16 Maratha Light Infantry in Oksongbung Lairenjam Leikai at around 1.30 am today.
A PIB defence wing statement said that on questioning, the apprehendee revealed the presence of another over-ground worker of KCP (MC) group named Kiyam Ibomcha alias Ramesh (36) of Gelmon, Bishnupur district.
He was also subsequently arrested by the combined troops.
Both of them have revealed that they were actively involved in the recruitment, tax collection, extortion and money collection for the outfit from Oksongbung Lairenjam Leikai and Gelmon, the PIB Defence Wing statement said, adding that the apprehendees have been handed over to Moirang Police Station.
Meanwhile, acting on credible information, a combined police commando team of Imphal West and Bishnupur district under the supervision of Dy SP (Ops), Imphal West arrested one overground worker of PLA from the western side of Shamushang Shantipur lake at around 2 pm today.
Identifying the arrested overground worker as Salam Santi Singh (45) s/o S Tompokchao Singh of Nongmaikhong Mayai Leikai, Senior SP of Imphal West district, in a statement, conveyed that one rubber tube containing three AK-56 rifles, six magazines, two Chinese hand grenades and 284 rounds of AK ammunition were recovered at his instance from the same area.
On spot verification, Santi disclosed that he is working under one Sushil of Ithai Wapokpi, the SSP disclosed.
