The United Kuki Liberation Front (UKLF) has denied involvement of the outfit in the kidnapping of principal chief conservator of forest Singsit terming the kidnapping of people for ransom as an act of cowardice.
In statement signed by information and publicity secretary JM Zou dispatched to the media the UKLF has strongly condemned the kidnapping of Singsit who was on his way to his mother burial service at his native village.
Such cowardly acts are done by groups which are not part of the SoO (Suspension of Operation) and who have no revolutionary spirit.
Extortion, kidnapping for ransom and working against peace and harmony in the society is the main target of these groups, it stated.
The outfit praised the operation launched by NSCN(IM) to rescue the officer and also cautioned to all that any party or group which are not under SoO must be strictly dealt with by the state and central forces.
Meanwhile, reacting to the news report of possible payment of ransom, sources close to the family disclosed that no ransom was paid to the kidnappers.
He was rescued by NSCN(IM) cadres.
With regard to the murder of village chief Ngamlet Baite recently in Chandel district, the statement charged that he was involved in forming new UG groups like CAN, ZPC, KNLF was the main reason which led to his untimely death.
UKLF will not tolerate such groups or individuals, the statement reiterated.
