Imphal, May 22 2011:
Five days after discovering the body of a 4-year-old boy, the police remained clueless about the motive behind the killing.
The body was found hanged behind a temple in Bishnupur district on May 18 .
Four persons were picked on the next day of the murder and police reportedly picked five more including four women, all hailing from the same locality of the victim, for interrogation on May 20, a report said.
Interrogations of the five suspects are on.
They were not booked directly with the case, the
source said.
Mention may be made that the dead body of four-year old Thiyam Tomba alias Roberoy son of Th Rocky Singh of Ningthoukhong Kha Khunou was found hanged by his parents and family who conducted a search for his whereabouts when he could not be traced after he went out around 1 pm on the same day.
Police suspect the boy was strangulated before being hanged.
Police ruled out drug addicts to be behind the murder as the gold ear-rings and gold necklace of the boy were not taken away, said a police officer.
Though it was a rare case, there were instances of murder of minor boys by drug addicts in Manipur.
At least two such cases were detected in the last three years or so.
Even though police are reportedly searching for the murderer, the fallout has been an enmity between the victim's parents and some of their local friends.
As for the police they are clueless about the murder suspect.
