Imphal, May 22 2011:
Sambu Raiping Katamnao Long (SRKL) has strongly condemned the abduction and prolonged detention of its president Ramsing Kasar in the custody of some UG groups despite numerous appeals from many Tangkhul organisations for unconditional release.
In a joint statement, vice president of SRKL Songachan and the speaker of assembly affairs Yangmi N clarified that the hostage as well as the student body have no connection or nexus with any UG groups or their factions or with contract works of PMGSY.
Such act of abduction and undue interference in the affairs of the student body is condemnable and it is against the rights of the students in Sambu area in particular and the Tangkhuls in general, the joint statement said, while reiterating appeal for safe and unconditional release of the abducted student leader.
Giving two days time for releasing the abducted student leader, the student body has also categorically warned that the group concerned should be held responsible for any untowards incident if the abducted student leader is not released by then.
