Five more in line for Heart to Heart benefits

Sustaining its noble project christened, 'Heart to heart', Rotary Club of Imphal (RCI) president Dr Modhumangol Singh announced that four children with congenital heart disease would undergo surgery/treatment in the first week of June this year.
The 14th batch of beneficiaries under the project comprise five children and will leave for Mission Hospital in Durgapur next month, he said while informing that the Rotarians' endeavour is to extend financial assistance to children who belong to BPL families.
Informing that cost of surgery/treatment is being borne through donation by members of RCI, rotary International fund and contributions by MPs, Ministers as well as noble individuals of the society, he said yearly scholarship amount of Rs 3000 would be provided to M Rishikanta, who recently underwent heart surgery.
Dr Modhumangol also conceded that out of 114 children diagnosed with congenital heart disease, RCI had been able to afford treatment of only 40 children so far.
further highlighting that out of every 1000 newly born children about eight suffer congenital heart disease, the RCI president said two children out of total who availed the opportunity could not survive for long.
Reflecting on the recently announced 58th National Film Awards at New Delhi, he said the award winning documentary film titled 'heart to heart' directed by Bachaspatimayum Sanzu would be screened at various places as an awareness campaign.
The documentary film, which won an award of the Festival in the category of 'Science and Technology', was based on the life of Mayanglambam Rishikanta (8) of Kakching Khullen, a beneficiary of RCI's 'Heart to Heart' project.
