A technical college which would be the biggest of its kind in the North Eastern region of the country set up in Meghalaya by the ERD Foundation announced Dr E Saikia , administrator of the foundation while elaborately speaking on the facilities available with the college.
Speaking to the media persons at a press conference held at Hotel Nirmala today, Dr Saikia introduced the ERD foundation as one of the most advancing network in the field of education in the north eastern region.
The technical college called the Regional Institute of Science and Technology was set up at the Techno city, Killing road and Bariduwa, Meghalaya recently and the first ever session of the college will start from June this year.
The college will provide three courses of Bachelor of Technical, computer science and engineering, electronic and communication engineering and information technology.
Intake capacity of each course will be 60 students with 180 students in total.
Giving reasons for the establishment of the technical college, the administrator observed that ill-treatment meted out to the students from the north east states while going to study in other cities of the countries other than north eastern region.
Students of the region are feeling alienation by such attitudes.
Considering this and with the objective to impart latest update knowledge in the field of technology, the foundation set up the college, Saikia said reiterating his appeal to the parents and guardian of the north east states to avail the benefits of the college by sending their children.
