Around one thousand Christians from different denominations performed whole-night prayer for peace, harmony and normal life in Manipur on Friday night at Imphal.
Young and old gathered for whole night at Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen and yelled and cried before God, a statement of the All India Christian Council, Manipur Chapter said.
All India Christian Council, Manipur Chapter in collaboration with churches, NGOs and Mission in Manipur organized the historic whole night prayer for peace in Manipur and it was performed as general public are grieved with daily killing, constant public strikes and extortion by various militant groups, according to the organizers.
"Manipur has reached the stage, seemingly not able to return back to normal life unless God have mercy on the state".
At the end of the gathering, the Christian took pledged to uphold the state of Manipur in daily prayer until the killing stopped, peace and normal life returned.
The peace initiative through prayer and advocacy for the state is decided to carry further in local churches, districts and block levels, the organizer stated adding that Christians of the state are in deep concerned about the situation and committed to work for transformation.
They also appealed the people to give peace a chance, respect the human lives and work for change.
The All India Christian council came to exist since 1998 for the protection and serving the Chrisitian community, minorities, and the oppressed castes.
The AICC is a coalition of thousands of Indian denominations, organisations and lay leaders.
