CID seized heroin worth Rs two crore in the international market trafficed from Manipur from two persons here on Friday.
Sources said CID found the drugs weighing two kg from a car in which Sweet Hussain (Guwahati) and Mohammad Amu (Imphal) were travelling.
"Acting on a tip-off, sleuths followed the car and intercepted it near Down Town Hospital.
Amu and Hussain were arrested along with the drugs," a source said.
"The duo was on their way to meet a customer," the source claimed.
During interrogation, Hussain and Amu said they had brought the heroin from Manipur for a drug pedlar based in Guwahati, he added.
The source said Guwahati has lately become a transit point for narcotic business.
Most of the drugs come from Southeast Asia through the Manipur-Myanmar border.
Also on Friday, police busted an inter-state drug racket in lower Assam's Dhubri district.
Abdul Matin and Mohammad Moidul Pradhani, residents of Adabari and Baghjani villages in Dhubri, were arrested with a large quantity of psychotropic drugs, said DSP (Dhubri) S Baruah.
In Guwahati unearthed an explosive factory run by Ulfa atop Jyotinagar hills and recovered five kg of ammonium nitrate.
Satish Rajbongshi, an Ulfa cadre from Rangiya, was arrested.
