Gold worth Rs 1.5 crore seized

Imphal, April 24 2018:
Customs Division Imphal seized 30 gold biscuits, believed to be of foreign origin, weighing around 5 kilograms from an alleged smuggler at around 9 am today, from Lamlong area under Porompat PS.
The seized gold biscuits and the arrested individual were displayed before media persons today at the office of Customs Division Imphal, Sangakpham.
Briefing media persons, RK Darendrajit, Customs Assistant Commissioner, stated that they were able to seize and arrest Md Yasin (39) s/o Md Rahamat of Sangaiyumpham, acting on specific input regarding smuggling of gold biscuits from Lamlong area.
He said that they were able to seize 30 gold biscuits, believed to be of foreign origin and worth around Rs 1.5 crore from the possession Md Yasin.
He further said that investigation is currently underway and they might be able to arrest other smugglers involved very soon.
