JAC fumes over eviction order

Imphal, March 08 2011:
While reacting to the notice of evacuation of affected families by the Airport Expansion before March 31, 2011, the JAC against the Extension and Expansion of Imphal Airport, Ningombam alleged the government of indulging in dirty politics in the expansion work.
In a press release, the JAC stated that the land provided to the affected families is not yet ready for settlement.
Moreover the board and council examinations are approaching.
In such a situation, the government has chosen to give eviction orders to the affected families.
Drawing immediate attention of the government to the situation, the JAC appealed to defer the deadline given to them keeping in view of the problems of examinations and the unprepared sites for settlement.
Meanwhile, the Social Reformation and Development Club (SRDC), Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai strongly condemned the act of the government to give away the Heiripok Heikru Ching (Heibok Ching) to the affected families in the airport expansion and demolition of houses of the village which are situated at the foothill.
Alleging the state government of destroying several houses, the club said it will not share the hill with people of other villages.
