Lamka, May 28 2010:
With the State Government opting to airlift at least 23 Presiding Officers and their ballot boxes that were stranded in the interior sub-divisions of Tipaimukh, a private chopper today airlifted eight of the officials who were stranded in Senvon and their respective ballot boxes while the fate of another 15 POs and their ballot boxes that were stranded in Sipuikawn remains uncertain.
The Pawan Hans chopper that managed only a couple of sorties today could not airlift the POs from Vangai area due to a prior engagement.
The fate of the 15 POs and their accompanying officials from Vangai thus hangs in the balance still, as they were already short of supplies and resources.
It is worth mentioning here that the stranded officials had already made a desperate call to the authority as well as their family, requesting them to find an alternative means to reach them out.
