The 21st Students' Emancipation Day was observed today at Moirang Multipurpose Hi-gher Secondary School, Moirang under the aegis of the All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU).
The main feature of the observance was offering of floral tributes to the three student activists who were killed in police firing in the course of their legitimate demand for requisite infrastructure of Moirang Multi Purpose Higher Secondary School between 1973 and 1979 .

The three students who were killed in police firing were Haobijam Ibohal, Urikhinbam Khelen and Kumam Sarat.
Addressing the function as chief guest, former AMSU president L Gojendro paid obeisance to the three student activists who laid down their lives for the rights of student community.
While blaming the law and order situation for the deteriorating education scenario, Gojendro emphasised on the vital importance of good infrastructure for growth of education.
AMSU president Irengbam Jamesbond exhorted students to concentrate on their studies.
He observed that lack of knowledge, discipline and education have been the main factors for the socio-political decadence being witnessed in Manipuri society.
