The SPF Cabinet has decided to re-commend to the Governor to convene the 8th session of the 9th Manipur Legis-lative Assembly from july 7.This decision was taken du- ring a Cabinet meeting today.
Government spokesman N Biren said the Cabinet meeting presided by the Chief Minister O ibobi Singh recommended starting the session from July 7 as certain issues need to be processed under relevant norms.
It is also informed that the Cabinet discussed administrative powers to be conferred upon the Autonomous District Councils and consequently constituted a five-member comm- ittee with the Chief Secretary as chairman of the panel to chalk out relevant measures.
Among others a Finance Dept official would be one of the Committee members, said the source adding that the panel would prepare the report on conferment of power well ahead of official formation of district councils, said Biren.
Another resolution of the cabinet pertains to hiking the monthly salaries of Home Guard personnel from Rs 2599 to Rs 3450 .
other decisions approved by the Cabinet included creation of a new post for direct recruitment of a Deputy Director of Art and Culture Dept; appointment of 8 female demons- trators of civil defence; appointment of one under graduate, two graduate and one matriculate teacher for Deaf and Blind School; and issuance of an order to authority concerned for sub- mission of a report on the delay in declaring result of the 2008 DPC conducted by the MPSC.
On the other-hand, an informed source said the Cabinet tentatively set July 16 as the end of the House session even though the exact duration would be finalised by the Business Advisory Committee of the Assembly.
